The Waverley Music Eisteddfod was established in 1979 by Councillor Howard Friee and his piano teacher wife, Frances. The Eisteddfod is held annually and is a major local music event that draws over 600 competitors from around Melbourne.  

For many years the Rotary Club of Monash has been one of the sponsors of this event, traditionally providing the first prize for one of the vocal sections and has on occasion had our members volunteer at the event.
